When do I gift the concert tickets if the concert is before their birthday?

I bought a pair of tickets. The concert is 2 weeks before his birthday. When do I give him the tickets? He knows when the concert is but doesn’t know I bought the tickets.
Also, i’m not going :) I just got him the tickets - he is taking one of his friends - who also loves that kind of music.

Not sure when to give them to him. Thanks!
